$20 SNAP Vouchers will be available starting February 5
Mobile, Alabama (February 4, 2019)– The Mobile SPCA today announced it has recently received a $95,000 grant from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to help fuel its spay and neuter efforts in Mobile County. With the help of this donation, the organization will offer $20 spays and neuters for owned animals in Mobile County starting Tuesday February 5.
“While our transport program is very successful, we know it is just a band-aid on the real problem of unaltered cats and dogs” said Mobile SPCA’s Executive Director, Janine Woods. “To help alleviate this breeding problem, we applied for and received a grant from PetSmart Charitiesto offer spay/neuter assistance to approximately 1,350 Mobile County pets. There will be a $20 co-pay for each surgery and the Mobile SPCA will reimburse the participating veterinary clinic the remaining cost of the surgery,” Woods added. To take advantage of this offer pet owners must be a resident of the City of Mobile or Mobile County.
PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness. Since 1994, the organization has granted more than $100 million to support spay and neuter efforts across the United States.
“Mobile SPCA continues to be a vital community resource as it takes a proactive approach to reducing pet homelessness,” said Kelly Balthazor, regional relationship manager at PetSmart Charities. “We are thrilled to support its efforts to provide affordable spay/neuter services to pet families throughout Mobile County.”
Pet owners must contact the Mobile SPCA for details, a voucher for the surgery, and a list of participating veterinarians. For more information go to MobileSPCA.org, our Facebook page or call the Mobile SPCA office at 633-3531.
