When people think about adding a pet to their home, many times their first thought is a puppy. And let’s be honest – puppies are GREAT! But you know what pet is just as fantastic, lower maintenance, requires less energy, doesn’t need potty-training and won’t make you to take them outside when it’s storming? CATS!! Cats are the perfect pet because they’re easy, clean, fun, and snuggly. At the Mobile SPCA, we always have an abundance of cats and kittens of all ages, colors, and personalities.
And we place a lot in great homes! For instance:
In 2016 we helped 538 cats.
In 2017 925 cats.
In 2018 from Jan – September 457 cats.
We maintain a waiting list of cats that has over 200 cats and kittens on it at any given time and we take them in as we have space.
Normally there are 100 to 150 cats in the shelter on any given day either getting ready for adoption or ready for adoption. We place them through PetSmart on Airport and through the office.
So the next time you have an opening in your family for a pet, consider a feline!
AND.. this weekend is the National Adoption Weekend so be thinking of exactly what kind of cat YOU want…get’em while the supplies are good! Remember, the closer to Christmas, the fewer kittens we’ll have!
