We were so sad to learn of the passing of SETH, but at the same time, very grateful that he was able to live his last five months with happiness and love…thanks to Rene Savell.
Seth’s story was a sad one, and one faced every day by so many elderly pets. We will never know what Seth went through in all his years on earth…but when he came to the Mobile SPCA, he was a pitiful little soul…matted, blind, deaf, and with a mouth full of very bad teeth requiring extensive dental work. And he was very old. What were his chances of finding someone to love him for whatever time he had left?
Rene came to the Mobile SPCA and specifically asked for a Yorkie. And Seth was the Yorkie we had. His age and disadvantages didn’t matter to her…and she took him home to love and care for.
We received this update from her shortly afterwards: “I’m on the 8th floor and I love it. It faces south so I have sunshine all day and I can see the lights of downtown. Little Seth has learned to get to the door and whines to go out. He’s pottying out there on his astroturf mostly, but not always, and that’s okay. I am more than happy to clean up after him. He has a good appetite and can smell his food and gets excited trying to find his bowl. I tap his ceramic bowl with a spoon and he follows the sound…so sweet. We are learning to communicate with each other and it makes my heart sing to see him adjusting so well. He’s a sweet thing. I am just over the moon. I wanted an old dog with issues, preferably a Yorkie, and I hit the trifecta! Thank you SO MUCH!”
After telling us the sad news of Seth’s passing, Rene said “Older dogs with health issues still have some living to do, and it’s our responsibility to assure them a safe and loving life experience in what time they have remaining with us. Seth was a blessing to me and was an uplifting example to the other senior adults where I live. Thank you for seeing his worth.”
We can all make a difference in this world, whether small or large. To Seth, Rene was his everything, and though his time with her was far too short, we are beyond grateful that they found one another. Rest in peace, beautiful boy.
