Heartworm and flea preventative: Remember that your pet needs monthly heartworm and flea preventative that you must purchase from your veterinarian. This was explained to you at adoption and there is information on heartworm disease in your adoption packet. If you need more information about the importance of administering these preventatives please contact the office or download our flyers on HEARTWORMS and FLEAS.
Training and typical problems: In the adoption packet you will find information on training and typical problems new pet owners may face. You can also access cat behavior information or dog behavior information by clicking either link or behavior tips on our website. Please review this information if you encounter any problems or call the Mobile SPCA office at (251) 633-3531 for advice. We want to make sure you and your pet live a long and happy life together!
Contact your veterinarian: It is our goal to ensure that you take home a healthy pet. Shortly before adoption, this pet was checked by a veterinarian and to our knowledge, was a healthy, happy pet. The vet records given to you at adoption show the medical services that have been provided. There are some conditions that may be unknown to us or the veterinarian at the time of medical check up and adoption. It is your responsibility to contact your veterinarian shortly after adoption. If any serious health conditions arise, please contact the Mobile SPCA.
Can’t care for your pet?: Remember that if you can no longer care for this pet in the manner set forth in your contract you must return the pet to the Mobile SPCA. If you breach this contract you may be liable for damages in the amount of $1,000.
Microchips: Your pet has been microchipped for its safety. The Mobile SPCA will register the pet with the information you gave us on the adoption contract. If this information is not correct and your pet gets away from you we will not be able to contact you and return the pet to you. Please contact the office if your information changes during the pet’s lifetime. The microchip company may contact you about purchasing a Lifetime Protection Membership or an Annual Membership. This purchase is entirely up to you. Click here to see a list benefits of Membership. The microchip company will contact you to try to sell you a Membership. If the customer service agent tells you they will drop the microchip from the registry unless you purchase a Membership or that it is illegal to rechip your pet, this is absolutely not true. Please get the name of the customer service agent and let me know immediately. We will contact the microchip company. They are working diligently to try to find the person responsible for this misinformation and correct it!
We love photos!: Please send us a picture of your pet or post them on Facebook. Our volunteers and staff become very attached to each and every pet that we take in and we love to see them, happy and living in their new forever homes! We feature a former Mobile SPCA resident each week on our Facebook page as our BANNER PET. If you would you like your new pet to grace our Facebook page one upcoming week please send one photo – and it must be LANDSCAPE (unfortunately, portrait photos will not fit the banner) – to Marcia. Please tell her your pet’s new name and it’s Mobile SPCA name when you adopted it, about when you adopted, and any other information you’d like to share. Marcia collects these photos and changes them each Saturday.
Resale Shop: Remember, we also have a Resale Shop at our facility at 620 Zeigler Circle West. We carry some pet supplies, food, crates and carriers. We also accept rummage donations.
Thank you again for adopting from the Mobile SPCA.
