100 Rescues
by Val Webb

Nine years ago I met my best friend, a 65-pound hound mix named Atticus, at a pet adoption hosted by Mobile SPCA. (He's sitting right beside me as I type this.) I want to thank the Mobile SPCA for the important work they do, on behalf of the thousands of dogs and cats who have found homes since Atticus came to me. So I created 100 Rescues.

I will draw and paint 100 dogs and cats, posting each as it is completed on this site, on Instagram @100rescues and on my studio Facebook page.  These originals are each available for a $25 donation to the Mobile SPCA, through their 100 Rescues Fundraising website. Shipping is free in the US.

Email me with your mailing address after you make your donation, and your artwork will soon be on its way to your door.

Easter Holiday Changes
The office will be closed for the Easter holiday - Saturday through Monday - and there will be no PetSmart adoption this Saturday. If you are interested in adopting please come see us this week or Tuesday, April 18.

Thanks to the Tanner Williams Elementary School students and their Dollars For Dogs campaign. They were able to present Mrs. Jody Stanford and Sammy a check for the Mobile SPCA for $260.00!

Volunteer Dinner May 4
Please join us May 4 at the Mobile SPCA office for our annual volunteer dinner. We will update everyone on everything we have achieved over the last year and some hopes for the next year. Our great chef Ted Taylor will be making his best BBQ and the staff will be making all the sides, and of course, dessert. Please let me know you will attend by May 1 so we'll have plenty to eat!

Kudos to Mr. Roy our great can man for recycling 1475 pounds of squished aluminum cans for a whopping $941.49. If you have aluminum cans at your home or business and can save them for us, we would be very appreciative! Several of us bring cans in from friends and neighbors so let us know if you need a pick up and we will do our very best to find someone to ferry them to the office! We are also very grateful to our great Coast Guard volunteers who help us before the rummage sale and help load and deliver bags of can to the recycle center! We do love the Coast Guard!

We have over 100 puppies and we desperately need newspaper. If you can take out the circulars that would be great but not mandatory! Please drop them by the office during business hours!

My name is Nellie and I was recently transferred from the Mobile Country Animal Shelter. I'm a sweet girl looking for a permanent home! I am 2 years old and just 24 pounds. If you are interested in Millie or any of our cats and dogs please call (251) 633-3531 or complete the online

pet adoption questionnaire >>

Don't forget we
recycle for cash!

Please bag up your aluminum and drop it by the office. Our own Mr. Roy crushes all the donated aluminum and bags it up for recycle. In 2014 he has crushed a whopping 3,341 pounds of aluminum and raised $2,461 — that aluminum means cash to buy supplies for the animals. We also recycle cell phones, old electric cords, Christmas lights, brass, copper, gold, silver and ink cartridges.

Finance pet treatment with Vetary and give back to our pet shelter!
