The Mobile SPCA is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to provide compassionate care, shelter, food, and medical attention to the animals entrusted to us while promoting adoptions, spay and neuter initiatives, responsible pet ownership and community education.

The Mobile SPCA receives more than
$70,000 from
PetSmart Charities® to
fuel new spay/neuter program in Mobile

In 2016 the Mobile SPCA placed 563 cats and 437 dogs locally, and transported 626 puppies and adult dogs to shelters in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The Mobile SPCA assists with over 1,000 spay/neuter surgeries each year through our $10 off coupon. Additionally, the organization assisted many other pet owners who could not afford the surgery even with $10 off.

“While the transport program is very successful, we know it is just a band-aid on the real problem of unaltered cats and dogs” said Mobile SPCA’s Executive Director, Janine Woods. “To help alleviate this breeding problem, we applied for and received a grant from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to offer spay/neuter assistance to approximately 1,000 pets in 2017. There will be a $20 co-pay for each surgery and the Mobile SPCA will reimburse the participating veterinary clinic the remaining cost of the surgery,” Woods added. You must be a resident of the City of Mobile or Mobile County.

“With the help of the Mobile SPCA, local pet parents will have easy access to more affordable spay/neuter procedures for their pet,” said Kelly Balthazor, regional relationship manager at PetSmart Charities.  “Through this effort, this organization is taking a proactive approach to preventing unplanned litters and reducing pet homelessness in Mobile.”

PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness through increased spay and neuter efforts.  With the help of animal welfare partners, such as Mobile SPCA, PetSmart Charities has funded over 1.4 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.

Owners must contact the Mobile SPCA for details, a voucher for the surgery, and a list of participating veterinarians.  For more information call the Mobile SPCA at 633-3531.

About PetSmart Charities:

PetSmart Charities, Inc. is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that saves the lives of homeless pets.  Each year nearly 500,000 dogs and cats find homes through our adoption program in all PetSmart® stores across the U.S. and sponsored adoption events.  Each year millions of PetSmart shoppers contribute to PetSmart Charities to help pets in need by making donations on a pin pad at the register.  PetSmart Charities efficiently uses 90 cents of every dollar to support its mission of finding lifelong, loving homes for all pets.  PetSmart Charities grants more money to directly help pets in need than any other animal welfare group in North America, with a focus on funding adoption and spay/neuter programs that help communities solve pet overpopulation.  PetSmart Charities is a 501(c)(3) organization, independent from PetSmart, Inc.  PetSmart Charities has received the Four Star Rating for the past 13 years from Charity Navigator, an independent nonprofit that reports on the effectiveness, accountability and transparency of nonprofits, placing it among the top one percent of charities rated by this organization.

My name is Betty Boop - I'm not grumpy but I must confess I am working on a little behavior problem...I give love nibbles! When you pet me I will occasionally not be able to help myself and give you a little bite (nibble!). People here have taught me not to do this by blowing a puff of air in my face when I slip but sometimes I forget and have to be reminded again.... I would be better in a home with no small children or other cats. I think I could boss around dogs if I need to though. I love to play with my catnip toys and I like a big fluffy blanket that I can "make biscuits" on. I love laying near a window where I can see the world and daydream. I have beautiful long gray hair and I am 2 years old. If you are interested in Betty Boob or any of our lovey cats and dogs please call (251) 633-3531 or complete the online

pet adoption questionnaire >>

Don't forget we
recycle for cash!

Please bag up your aluminum and drop it by the office. Our own Mr. Roy crushes all the donated aluminum and bags it up for recycle. In 2014 he has crushed a whopping 3,341 pounds of aluminum and raised $2,461 — that aluminum means cash to buy supplies for the animals. We also recycle cell phones, old electric cords, Christmas lights, brass, copper, gold, silver and ink cartridges.

Finance pet treatment with Vetary and give back to our pet shelter!
